Dr. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the average number of persons in prisons awaiting completion of parole reports by the probation and after care service in each metropolitan county area in each year since 1974 by age, sex and type of offence.

This information is not available in any of the forms requested. Reports from the probation service are required for all prisoners being considered for parole. The numbers of prisoners so considered in the years in question were as follows:
