HC Deb 19 November 1984 vol 68 cc18-9W
Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) which hospitals in Scotland are designated to receive cases of acute hepatitis B; and what is the geographical catchment area for each one;

(2) if he will list, for each of the last five years, the number of acute hepatitis B cases admitted to each hospital in Scotland which is designated to handle such cases.

Mr. John MacKay

Hospitals are not specially designated for the reception of such cases. Figures are not readily available for 1979, but the numbers of discharges from Scottish hospitals with a primary or secondary diagnosis of viral hepatitis B for the years 1980 to 1983 are given in the table.
