HC Deb 14 November 1984 vol 67 c275W
Mr. Parris

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement about the cross-Channel link.

Mr. David Mitchell

The Government's position remains as stated in my right hon. Friend's reply to the questions by my hon. Friend the Member for Maidstone (Sir J. Wells) and my hon. and learned Friend the Member for Folkestone and Hythe (Mr. Howard) on 22 May 1984, at column 380.

Mr. Parris

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what discussions he has had regarding the Channel tunnel project since the publication of the Banks Report in May.

Mr. David Mitchell

My right hon. Friend has had numerous discussions with promoting groups and with financial institutions interested in carrying forward one or other of the various proposals for a Channel fixed link.

Mr. Parris

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he next plans to raise the cross-Channel link with his French counterpart.

Mr. David Mitchell

My right hon. Friend will discuss this with his French counterpart on 14 November.
