§ Mr. Macleanasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will report on the progress made over the last 12 months on preparing the scheme for the Brampton bypass; and whether he expects to be able to publish a preferred route by January 1985.
§ Mrs. ChalkerWe have been considering in detail the options north and south of the town which I announced in October 1983, along with some variations suggested during our consultations with local councils and other statutory bodies. These somewhat complex studies will not be finished in time for me to make an announcement about the route in January, but I certainly hope to do this within the next few months.
