HC Deb 13 November 1984 vol 67 c185W
Dr. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of Stae for the Environment if he will list the metropolitan district councils which will not be required to undertake minerals planning in the event of the implementation of Cmnd. 9063.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

Planning application for minerals will need to be considered by those authorities to which they are submitted. More generally, the wider aspects of minerals planning will need to be considered by metropolitan districts in preparing their unitary development plans.

Dr. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many minerals planning applications have been determined since 1974 by each of the metropolitan county councils, listed by district council area.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

I understand that between April 1974 and March 1984 decisions were taken on 440 minerals planning applications within the areas of metropolitan county councils. I regret that more detailed information cannot be provided except at disproportionate cost.
