HC Deb 12 November 1984 vol 67 c110W
64. Mr. George Gardiner

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the decision by Bovis Birse to cease work on the Reigate-Leatherhead interchange section of the M25 for six months, after having been granted a six-month extension for completion of the contract.

Mrs. Chalker

This contract follows the ICE Conditions of Contract (5th Edition). The Department's consultants who have an independent role as engineer to the contract have awarded extensions of time until 26 August 1985. It is for the contractor to decide his own programme to meet this date; if it is not met, liquidated damages will be payable. I expect the whole length of the M25 between Wisley and Reigate to be completed next summer.
