HC Deb 22 May 1984 vol 60 c426W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any plans to mount a newspaper advertising campaign to inform pensioners and those in receipt of child benefit how to claim benefit in the event of industrial action in his Department; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Boyson

The Department has already publicised changes in payment arrangements, which are necessary because of industrial action by some computer staff, by advertising in national newspapers.

We shall similarly publicise any new arrangements which become necessary in the methods of claiming social security benefits. Some changes will be needed for retirement pension and these will be advertised shortly. For the time being claims for all other benefit should be made in the normal way.
