HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 cc319-20W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why Her Majesty's Government do not accept any of the Iranian refugees who were held by the Hong Kong immigration authorities; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waddington

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees sent to the Department particulars of one of the Iranians at present in Hong Kong for consideration for resettlement here but his links with the United Kingdom were too tenuous to justify his acceptance.
