HC Deb 17 May 1984 vol 60 c255W
Mr. Foster

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people in the northern region have had their non-contributory invalidity pension reduced by £3.10 per week.

Mr. Newton

None. The rate of non-contributory invalidity pension remains unchanged since it was uprated last November. The hon. Member may have in mind the withdrawal of the supplementary benefit non-householder contribution, worth £3.10 a week, from 18 to 20-year-olds. This change took effect on 1 April this year. Estimates of the number of young people receiving both supplementary benefit and non-contributory invalidity pension, in the social security north-eastern region, affected by this change are not available.
