HC Deb 15 May 1984 vol 60 cc96-7W
Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list his responsibilities for prisons in (a) Jersey, (b) Guernsey and (c) the Isle of Man; and what information his Department keeps about these matters.

Mr. Mellor

My right hon. and learned Friend has no direct responsibility for prisons in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. These dependencies of the Crown are responsible for their own internal affairs, including the administration of their prison services. Information on these matters, other than that obtained as a result of informal contracts or requests for advice, is not therefore collected or retained on a routine basis.
