§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has any plans to introduce legislation relating to the misuse of drugs; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MellorMy right hon. and learned Friend has no plans to amend the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. He will, however, shortly be introducing subordinate legislation to bring barbiturates and certain other drugs within the scope of that Act. He has also announced that the Government intend to ratify the United Nations convention on psychotropic substances 1971; that will require further subordinate legislation in the course of the next year or so.
