HC Deb 11 May 1984 vol 59 c485W
Mr. Sackville

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received advocating the control of chemicals which can readily be converted into amphetamines; what action he proposes to take; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mellor

My right hon. and learned Friend has received no such representations. Amphetamines are already controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, which makes unlawful their manufacture, supply and possession except in accordance with a licence or other authority issued by the Department. But my right hon. and learned Friend is aware of the concern which has been expressed with regard to this matter and will keep the situation under close review.
