HC Deb 04 May 1984 vol 59 c262W
Mr. Fatchett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) on what number of early retirements the cash limit of £392,000 for 1984–85 in the Yorkshire regional health authority is based;

(2) whether the total cost of early retirement in Yorkshire regional health authority was greater in the 1983–84 financial year than the attributed cash limit of £449,000.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

As I told the hon. Member on 25 April, at column 556, the actual cost of premature retirements in the Yorkshire region is not available. However, the final national outturn for 1983–84 was slightly higher than estimated and the amount attributed to Yorkshire region from the final outturn is £469,000.

The cost of premature retirements arising out of the main 1982 restructuring provisionally attributed to Yorkshire region for 1984–85 (£392,000) is based upon the continuation of 175 pensions prematurely awarded in earlier years and five further retirements during 1984–85.
