§ Mr. Macleanasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his policy with regard to the Inclosure Acts and their applicability to modern conditions.
§ Mr. WaldegraveI recognise the desirability of further legislation on common land, to encompass the repeal of various Inclosure Acts. This would, however, be a complex measure and I am awaiting the views of the commomn land forum, which was established last January by the Countryside Commission, with the aim of formulating agreed proposals for such a Bill. It is expected to report by the end of 1985.
