HC Deb 09 July 1984 vol 63 c430W
Mr. Maclean

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his policy with regard to the Inclosure Acts and their applicability to modern conditions.

Mr. Waldegrave

I recognise the desirability of further legislation on common land, to encompass the repeal of various Inclosure Acts. This would, however, be a complex measure and I am awaiting the views of the commomn land forum, which was established last January by the Countryside Commission, with the aim of formulating agreed proposals for such a Bill. It is expected to report by the end of 1985.
