HC Deb 17 January 1984 vol 52 c201W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if in view of the termination of Islington health authority's meeting on 5 December, before the conclusion of the public part of business, he will revise and reissue his Department's circular HC(81)6 containing guidance to health authorities on the admission of the press and public to meetings.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Although the meeting was adjourned because of disruption caused by a member of the public present, I understand that the public part of business had already been completed. The meeting was resumed, therefore, in private. There is no need to revise or re-issue the circular in the light of the proceedings at this meeting. I deplore the growing tendency of some members of the public to cause disruption and disorder at the meetings of health authorities and to attempt to intimidate members of authorities, but authorities will continue to comply, of course, with the provisions of the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act.
