asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether his Department issues any guidance to regional or district health authorities about the nature or level of liaison which should take place between authorities where responsibilities join or overlap.

Mr. John Patten

The current guidance [HRC(74)32] is that liaison arrangements are for local agreement between the authorities concerned.
