HC Deb 27 February 1984 vol 55 cc82-3W
Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what financial and manpower resources are available for wildlife conservation in Northern Ireland; and if he will express these figures per head of the population.

Mr. Chris Patten

Wildlife conservation by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland's conservation branch will cost approximately £385,000 in 1983–84, and the proportion of staff time involved is equivalent to 27 personnel; these are the equivalent of £245 and four days per annum per 1,000 population.
