HC Deb 27 February 1984 vol 55 c82W
Mr. J. Enoch Powell

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he expects to make a further statement on financial assistance to the reconditioning of Orlit houses owned or sold by the Housing Executive.

Mr. Chris Patten

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive is carrying out detailed technical investigations of its stock of Orlits, which it is hoped will be completed by the end of March; the executive will then formulate proposals for dealing with them.

My hon. Friend the Minister for Housing and Construction announced on 10 November 1983 that proposals for assisting the owners of defective houses sold by the public sector in Great Britain will be embodied in a Bill and this will be followed with draft Northern Ireland legislation to meet the commitment in my statement of 11 November 1983 as quickly as practicable.
