HC Deb 09 February 1984 vol 53 c788W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when, and to where, he now intends to move the Welsh regional plastic surgery centre and burns unit from St. Laurence, Chepstow, in the light of the decision of the Secretary of State for Wales in 1975 to move the unit from Chepstow to a permanent location on the University hospital of Wales site, Cardiff, and the instructions given by the Welsh Office to the South Glamorgan area health authority in 1980 to initiate planning with a view to a start on construction in 1984.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Following the most recent appraisal of possible sites for the development of a regional service, we have decided to replace the present facilities located at St. Lawrence hospital, Chepstow, with a new 100-bed unit on the site of Morriston district general hospital. The detailed planning will begin immediately.
