HC Deb 12 December 1984 vol 69 c514W
13. Mr. Churchill

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress there has been in the Geneva negotiations on chemical weapons.

Mr. Luce

Further progress has been made towards a treaty, but more slowly than we would have wished. Key problems of verification remain to be resolved. When the negotiations resume in January we trust that other countries, including the Soviet Union, will join us in showing the flexibility and determination needed to achieve a total ban.
