§ Mr. Alan Clark[pursuant to his reply, 12 April 1984, c. 184]: Data from the labour force survey show that in Great Britain in 1981 about 42 per cent. of males in employment were heads of households containing dependent children and about 30 per cent. of females in employment were heads, or wives of heads, of households containing dependent children.
§ Mr. Skinnerasked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of the total work force is represented at the latest available date by a family comprising a married man with dependent wife and two children.
§ Mr. Alan Clark[pursuant to his reply, 12 April 1984, c. 184]: It is estimated that in 1981 about 6 per cent. of persons in employment in Great Britain were married men aged 16–64 years with a wife who was not working and two dependent children.
