HC Deb 13 April 1984 vol 58 cc416-7W
Mr. Rost

asked the Secretary of State for'Energy if the oil to coal-burning conversion grant scheme would apply to conversion from oil burning to burning coal together with refuse or refuse-derived fuels.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The purpose of the Coal Firing Scheme is to assist companies wishing to switch from oil or gas to coal-fired equipment. As the Notes for applicants for support under the Scheme indicate, projects involving less than 100 per cent. use of coal will be considered, but in most cases it is unlikely that a project involving less than 75 per cent. total burn (on thermal basis) of coal will be acceptable.
