HC Deb 12 April 1984 vol 58 c314W
41. Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many crimes were committed in the last year by school age children.

Mr. Mellor

At the time of the recording of most offences the identity of the offender is unknown and so the information requested is not available. The readily available information about the ages of offenders is for those found guilty or cautioned and is published annually in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales"—tables 5.17–5.20 of the latest volume for 1983, Cmnd. 9048.
