§ Mr. Ashdownasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will identify each Customs and Excise computer system that holds personal data, including name, address and identification of bank account for a person who is registered for value added tax, stating the name of each computer system.
§ Mr. HayhoeThe VAT computer holds names and addresses for all registered persons. If any of these traders choose to defer payment of customs charges they need to supply their bank account number to Customs. This information is also held on the deferred accounting file in the Department's computerised accounting system.
