HC Deb 04 April 1984 vol 57 cc558-9W
60. Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received in the last two months concerning the operation of section 29 of the Wildlife and the Countryside Act 1981.

Mr. Waldegrave

Certain representations have been received, principally from the Nature Conservancy Council and the Friends of the Earth. These call for amendments to the section to provide(a) for the 12-month period for the conclusion of an agreement to commence from the date of the order, and (b) for an additional temporary "holding" power to be introduced to prevent damage whilst a section 29 order application is under consideration by the Secretary of State. I am still considering these representions.
