§ Mr. Michael Morrisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any proposals to introduce legislation to amend the Compulsory Purchase Act 1974 to dispense with site value compensation and to rely entirely on market value compensation.
§ Sir George YoungSite value compensation is payable in respect of the compulsory acquisition of unfit housing under part III of the Housing Act 1957. I am aware that the site value rule can operate harshly in some circumstances and my right hon. Friend and I have undertaken to consider its abolition when a suitable legislative opportunity arises.
