asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he is taking to prevent the importation of dolphins and killer whales.

Under European Council regulation No. 3626/82, my Department only permits imports of live dolphins and killer whales under strict conditions for education, research or breeding. All applications are referred to the Nature Conservancy Council for scientific advice before a decision is made.
