HC Deb 29 July 1983 vol 46 c712W
Mr. Chris Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many ministerial appointments to national park authorities are currently outstanding for vacant places; when any such appointments are likely to be made; and what criteria he intends to use in assessing candidates for such vacancies.

Mr. Waldegrave

There is currently one vacancy among the 61 ministerial appointments to the English national park authorities. My right hon. Friend is considering various candidates in consultation with the Countryside Commission and will make his selection soon with the best interests of the national parks in mind.
