Mr. Speller

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will raise or abolish the dog licence fee.

Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the Government are considering an increase in the cost of dog licences following the publication of the Treasury Minute. Cmnd. 8995, on the first report from the Committee of Public Accounts, Session 1982-83.

Responsibility for the level of licence fee rests with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The options for change are currently being considered in the light of the report of the Committee of Public Accounts Session 1982-83.
