HC Deb 21 February 1983 vol 37 c308W
29. Mr. Lee

asked the Minister for Trade if he is satisfied with existing controls on the amount of compensation for loss of office for company directors.

Dr. Vaughan

The amount a director is paid and any compensation for loss of office are for individual companies to decide. Under the Companies Acts contracts of employment of directors have to be disclosed and approved by the shareholders. Shareholders have the opportunity to criticize compensation payments.
