HC Deb 16 June 1982 vol 25 cc304-5W
Mr. Marlow

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government will set up a system of assisted settlement to the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Onslow

Our immediate priority must be the reestablishment of the administration and the rehabilitation of the islands for the existing population. It will be for the Falkland Islands Government to consider whether they would wish to propose an assisted settlement scheme in due course.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) why he has withdrawn for research most of the files on the history of the Falklands dispute since circa 1910 from the Public Record Office;

(2) if he will publish all records of his Department since 1910 which are now withheld from publication and which deal with the question of British title in law to the Falkland Islands;

(3) when the decision to withhold for 75 years his Department's comments on Jules Goebel's book "Struggle for the Falklands" was taken; when it was last reviewed; and if he will now make these comments available.

Mr. Onslow

I shall write to the hon. Gentleman.
