HC Deb 06 December 1982 vol 33 c368W
Mr. Moyle

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information is available to him as a result of the attendance of a member of the staff of the British Consulate General in Istanbul at the Turkish Peace Association trial on 27 July.

Mr. Hurd

The court session on 27 July was mainly devoted to procedural matters concerning the venue for further sessions of the trial and the manner and order in which the defendants were to be heard. The court refused the prosecution's requests that the trial should be held in Selimiye military barracks, that defendants should be individually cross-examined alone (rather than in the presence of the other defendants) and that their statements should be heard in alphabetical order rather than in the order in the indictment.
