Mr. Teddy Taylor asked the Secretary of State for Trade what surplus or deficit occurred in the United Kingdom's trade in manufactures with the EEC; and with the rest of the world, respectively, in the period from the beginning of 1981 to the most recent date for which figures are available; and what were the comparable figures, respectively, in the same period of each of the previous 16 years.

Mr. Peter Rees [pursuant to the reply, 20 October 1981]:As a result of the Civil Service dispute, detailed overseas trade statistics for the United Kingdom for 1981 have been published only for January and February. The figures requested in respect of these two months for 1981 and each of the previous 10 years are given below. The data for earlier years are not readily available.
