§ Mr. Mark CarlisleThe pupil-teacher ratio within schools for this year will not be available until the autumn. In January 1981 the estimated overall pupil-teacher ratio for maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools in England was 18.6:1. Pupil-teacher ratios for schools in Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
