§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department at which existing prisons there are building or repair projects estimated to cost £100,000 or more, giving in each case the estimated cost, the eventual increase or decrease in prison accommodation and facilities, and the dates of commencement and expected completion.
§ Mr. MayhewFrom 1981–82 to 1984–85, the last year covered by current public expenditure surveys, all existing182W establishments are expected to incur expenditure in excess of £100,000 on construction and repairs, which include labour, materials and payments to contractors, over these four years. Repairs are a continuing annual commitment. Estimates of completion dates for major projects are set out in appendix No. 8 to the report on the work of the prison department 1980—Cmnd. 8228. More detailed information could only be provided at disproportionate cost.
