HC Deb 26 January 1981 vol 997 c295W
Mr. Harry Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he proposes to make to the European Commission regarding its approving, in July 1980, an investment grant from the European regional development fund for the electronics company SGS/ATES Falkirk, in view of the company's proposal to close the Falkirk factory and relocate it outside the EEC.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

None. In accordance with the usual practice, any aid awarded by the Commission under the European regional development fund will be retained by the Government as partial reimbursement of regional development assistance already granted to the company under the Industry Act 1972.
