HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 cc103-4W
Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what permanent and transitional changes in the cost to public funds he expects when the Countryside Commission becomes a grant-aided body.

Mr. Monro:

The proposed change in status will itself not give rise to any permanent or transitional change in overall public expenditure although some minor adjustments between programmes will be necessary to enable staff costs, allied services and other costs to be paid for from the grant-in-aid.

Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what changes in staff numbers he expects when the Countryside Commission becomes a grant-aided body.

Mr. Monro:

The commission has yet to make recommendations to me about any changes in its organisation, but I would not expect to see any significant increase in staff numbers resulting from the commission becoming a grant-aided body. The numbers of staff the commission would employ would be subject to ministerial approval.
