Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will identify the items in the Welsh Office Votes which are specifically for the encouragement of the Welsh language, and also all other items in which some provision for the Welsh language, whether or not the provision is quantifiable, is included.

In the current year, provision is made in the Welsh Office Votes for the following grants specifically in support of the Welsh language:

In addition to these grants we shall be making a further £500,000 available from 1981–82.
