§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many extensions of detention have been made under section 12(1)(b) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act in Scotland in each year since 1976, and so far in 1980.
§ Mr. RifkindExtensions of detention were granted for 64 persons under section 12(1) of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1976 in Scotland in 1979 and for 13 persons in the first nine months of 1980. Separate figures for extensions of detention of persons arrested under section 12(1)(a), (b) and (c) and separate Scottish figures for years prior to 1979 could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
