HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 cc376-7W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has agreed to meet representatives of the British Medical Association to discuss the management of National Health Service laboratories.

Mr. Fairgrieve

I discussed this matter with representatives of the British Medical Association and of other medical bodies on 7 November. I refer the hon. Member to my reply of 12 November to the hon. Member for Fife, Central (Mr. Hamilton).—[Vol. 992, c.201.]

Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will invite the professional body for medical laboratory scientists to put its views on the management of National Health Service laboratories.

Mr. Fairgrieve

I am already aware of the views of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences on the management of hospital laboratories in the Scottish Health Service. It is for the institute to decide whether they wish to make any further representations on this matter.
