§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he proposes to implement those sections of the Children Act 1975 which provide that infant adoptions should be placed through a registered agency, in the light of the fact that private or third party adoptions are still commonplace.
§ Sir George YoungNo dates have yet been set for further implementation of the Children Act 1975 in England and Wales. The Department and the Welsh Office are currently re-examining the costs of the unimplemented provisions of the Act in co-operation with the local authorities, on whom the responsibility for operating the Act will mainly fall. We shall then consider the prospects for further implementation.
