HC Deb 03 March 1980 vol 980 cc43-4W
19. Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will take steps to counter the secondary boycott by Arab States against British companies which trade with Egypt and Israel.

Mr. Parkinson

As was made clear in the report by a Select Committee in another place, the boycott does not in general apply to the export of nonmilitary goods to Israel; nor are we aware that any United Kingdom company has experienced difficulty in relation to any boycott of Egypt. The Government have on a number of occasions stated their opposition to the boycott and the willingness of our embassies overseas and the Department of Trade to give all the help and advice they can to British exporters.
