HL Deb 11 June 1980 vol 410 cc557-8WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will ask the Working Group of the Five, established by the United Nations Human Rights Commission to "examine the question of and cases of enforced or involuntary disappearances of persons", to inquire particularly into the case of Senora Silvia Angelica Corazza de Sanchez, who was kidnapped by armed men in civilian clothes from the café "El Nuevo Clavel" in the city of Lanus, Argentina, on 19th May 1977; and whether they will seek evidence from Senora Estrella Iglesias and Senora Cecilia Vasquez de Lutzky, both of whom were prisoners with Senora de Sanchez in a secret detention camp operated by the Argentine army in the barracks at La Tablada, Buenos Aires, in September 1978.

Lord CARRINGTON

The Working Group on Missing and Disappeared Persons has not yet met. We supported its establishment and shall provide its members with appropriate information. The specific case of Senora Corazza de Sanchez is already well known, and the British Embassy in Buenos Aires have made, and will continue to make, inquiries about her whereabouts.
