HL Deb 11 June 1980 vol 410 cc558-9WA
Lord MELCHETT

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What Government Departments are involved in their current review of forestry policy, and whether the views of fringe bodies, private bodies, or individuals are being sought by any of the departments involved during the review.

Lord MELCHETT

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, during their current review of forestry policy, they will hold consultations with national voluntary organisations with an interest in the effects on the landscape and wildlife of forestry developments and tree planting.

The MINISTER of STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (The Earl of Mansfield)

The Forestry Commission and the departments of the forestry Ministers are involved in the normal way: other departments are brought into discussions as appropriate. Detailed proposals have yet to be formulated. When they are ready we shall consider what form of consultation will be appropriate.
