asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if the Health Education Council has made any efforts to dissuade pregnant women from self-medication.

Yes. The pregnancy care kit produced by the Health Education Council as part of its mother and baby campaign strongly advises expectant mothers not to accept pills or medicines from anyone other than their own doctor or the doctor at the ante-natal clinic and warns that taking unprescribed medicines can cause harm to the unborn baby. This advice will be reinforced as the campaign proceeds.
