HC Deb 07 July 1980 vol 988 c48W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Minister of Transport whether radioactive materials derived from or for use for nuclear power electricity generation pass through Keighley either by road or rail; and what precautions are taken against accidents in both cases.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Operational arrangements for the transport of such materials by rail is a matter for the British Railways Board. I am, however, informed that very few consignments pass through Keighley by rail, and I am not aware that there have been any by road. The Railways Board follows the normal stringent safety precautions applicable to the transport of all such materials.
