asked the Minister of Transport what subsidy is being paid to transport authorities in the London area in the current year.

Mr. Fowler

The Greater London Council currently expects to provide the following support to London Transport for the year 1980–81:

£ million at November 1979 prices
Revenue support 57
Capital grants 98

The greater part of this expenditure is eligible for support from transport supplementary grant or from the Government's urban programme.

Figures for new bus grant and fuel duty rebate payable to London Transport in the current year are not available since these are paid in arrears. For the year

last five years; and by what percentage for each year (b) and (c) exceed (a).
