§ 37. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Employment to what extent the recently announced increases in gas and electricity charges will increase the cost of living and raise inflation.
§ Mr. Jim LesterAs stated by my noble Friend the Earl of Gowrie in another place on 16 January the April increases will add to the retail prices index about ½ per cent. in the case of electricity and ½ per cent. in that of gas, spread over the subsequent three months; and the October domestic gas increase will add a further 0.16 per cent.
