HC Deb 14 January 1980 vol 976 cc559-60W
Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps are being taken in order to assess the experiences at the Reading borstal, when it operated as a correction centre, in devising the more rigorous regimes for the proposed pilot scheme; and whether he intends to take into such account the actual and attempted suicide rate in that institution.

Mr. Brittan

As I told the hon. and learned Member on 14 December, the experiences at Reading in 1967 are being taken into account in devising the pilot project.—[Vol. 975, c. 810–11.] I shall write to the hon. and learned Member about the availability of information on suicides and suicide attempts at Reading at that time.
