HC Deb 14 January 1980 vol 976 cc594-5W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list those changes in services and programmes that the Manpower Services Commission is proposing as a result of the proposed reduction in its staffing levels by approximately 3,400.

Mr. Jim Lester

I shall reply to the hon. Member as soon as possible.

Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Wolverhampton North-East on 13 December 1979, if he took into account the cost of paying benefit to the extra unemployed that will result from the reduction in the programme of the Manpower Services Commission when he estimated his saving of £20.2 million.

Mr. Jim Lester

No, because any possible effects on unemployment levels and unemployment benefit expenditure are small and highly uncertain.
